The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.
— Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

Discovering The Alchemist

I read this book while on the flight to my honeymoon to the Dominican Republic recently, I had never heard of it before, or of Paulo Coelho, its author. I had forgotten to bring any books for the flight or for lazy days on the beach, so I went in search of something in the airport. I saw this small book, with an interesting cover that said it was the 25th Anniversary Edition. I was intrigued by a book that had captivated people for so long, so I bought it.

I usually sleep on flights and was very tired because of how early our flight was, but I could not put the book down. Every page was full of beautiful prose that spoke about spirituality, the meaning of life and love, and the strength of the human spirit. Plus it was full of adventure, exotic scenes, and unforgettable characters. It also partially took place in Morocco, where my new husband is from. How serendipitous!

Life Lessons

So many—believe in yourself, trust that you have a purpose, love, be brave, explore, move on when it's time...

A side note about this blog post - I had the hardest time picking a quote from this book! Truly, I could have just closed my eyes, opened the book, and randomly pointed to the page and I would have had a profound sentence to use.
